Our Story

Updated: Apr 27

For 20 years, Camelot sat on the side of the road collecting dust, never having seen the ocean. The varnish was sun spotted and peeling, the engine was submerged in rain water, and the electrical systems were non-existent. Still, despite her weathered condition, the sharp lines and classic woodwork made her more than worthy of a spot in the historic Newport harbor.

October 2019 is when the idea of Newport Charter was born. I had driven past the boat hundreds of times but for some reason this day was the day I decided to pull over and take a picture.

It was my lucky day, the owner was working in her garden and when she saw me taking the picture she came over and we marveled in the beauty together. She was gracious enough to answer my many questions and as I was about to leave she mentioned that they would be willing to sell it if the right buyer came around.

A boat this beautiful needed to be in the water, not on the side of the road. Newport, RI has no shortage of eye catching boats that travel its waters everyday and there was no reason Camelot shouldn't join the short list of best looking boats in the harbor.
